The Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, has reassured Nigerians that the military is making significant progress in addressing the country’s security challenges. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the COAS combined second and third Quarters Conference 2024 in Uyo on Thursday, Mr. Lagbaja expressed confidence in the ongoing efforts to combat banditry and terrorism.
“This reassurance is grounded in the security briefings we have received from various army formations and commands nationwide. The feedback from commanders across the country is indeed encouraging,” stated Mr. Lagbaja. “While the security challenges facing our nation are daunting, they are surmountable, and we are on the right path to victory.”
The Army Chief reiterated the Nigerian Army’s loyalty to the nation’s constitution and its commitment to promoting national interests and values. He pledged continued collaboration with sister services and other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property across the country.
“I assure Nigerians of our determination to work hand in hand with other security forces to safeguard our nation. I also urge law-abiding citizens to support the government and security agencies in making Nigeria safe and prosperous,” added Mr. Lagbaja.
He also commended the participants of the conference for their dedication and sincerity, noting that the secretariat had effectively documented the decisions made during the deliberations.
