The Sokoto State Police Command has officially welcomed Ahmed Musa as its new Commissioner of Police, marking his appointment as the 48th individual to hold this position in the state. Musa succeeds CP Ali Hayatu Kaigama, who has recently retired from active service.
The announcement was made by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Ahmed Rufai, in a statement released on Friday. According to the statement, CP Musa hails from Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
CP Ahmed Musa began his career in law enforcement on June 10, 1994, when he was enlisted as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Cadet. He received his training at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano, and was subsequently posted to the Kogi State Command as an ASP on probation. Over the years, Musa has steadily risen through the ranks, gaining experience across various facets of police work, including administration, operations, traffic management, and criminal investigations.
Musa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Maiduguri. His career has seen him serve in a variety of roles, most recently as the Commissioner of Police for Community Safety and Crime Prevention at the Department of Police Services, Force Headquarters.
The statement highlighted Musa’s reputation as a highly skilled and professional officer with expertise in intelligence, cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, and community policing. He is recognized for his open-door policy and commitment to international best practices.
As he steps into his new role, CP Musa called for the full cooperation of the residents of Sokoto State. He assured the public of his dedication to enhancing the state’s security infrastructure and maintaining peace and order.
