Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas announced on Friday that the state is moving forward with plans to implement a new national minimum wage of ₦70,000. The state’s Head of Service is currently finalizing the wage table for this policy’s implementation.
In a statement to journalists following the signing of the state’s supplementary budget, Governor Kefas reiterated his commitment to ensuring the welfare of state workers. “It’s not an issue. I have said that once the Federal Government approves it, I will implement it. Our workers deserve the best,” he stated.
The governor emphasized that the Head of Service and his committee are diligently working on the details to ensure smooth implementation. “As soon as they get back to me, I will approve it,” Kefas assured.
During the budget signing ceremony at the Government House in Jalingo, Governor Kefas expressed gratitude to the Taraba State House of Assembly for their prompt passage of the supplementary budget. He commended the legislators for their understanding, support, and proactive approach in responding to his administration’s requests.
Governor Kefas also pledged to provide transparent leadership, particularly in managing the state’s finances, to achieve the administration’s goals and deliver quality governance to the people of Taraba.
