Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has established a 13-member negotiation committee to facilitate the implementation of the new ₦70,000 minimum wage in the state. This move follows the signing of the minimum wage bill into law by President Bola Tinubu in July.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Yinka Oyebode, announced the formation of the committee in a statement issued on Sunday in Ado Ekiti. He confirmed that the committee’s first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4.
The negotiation committee will be chaired by the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, and comprises representatives from both the state government and organized labor unions.
Government representatives on the committee include the Commissioner for Finance, Akintunde Oyebode; Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Kayode Fatomiluyi; and the Accountant General/Permanent Secretary, Titilayo Olayinka. Additional members from the government side are Julius Bamise, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice; Oluwadare Jolumo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance; and Janet Ajibola, Permanent Secretary of the Office of Establishment and Service Matters.
Representatives from Organized Labour include Olufemi Ajoloko, Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Council; Olatunde Kolapo, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress; Sola Adigun, Chairman of the Trade Union Congress; Yetunde Emmanuel, Secretary of the Joint Negotiation Council; Dr. Israel Taiwo, Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress; and Yemi Peters, Secretary of the Trade Union Congress.
