Honest Cleaner Rewarded, Promoted After Returning $10,000 Found on Plane

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO Aviance) has honored Mr. Auwal Dankode, a diligent employee who found and returned $10,000 while cleaning an aircraft in Kano. Dankode, who was assigned to clean an Egypt Air MS 878 flight, discovered the money left behind by a passenger on seat No. 25H and immediately handed it over to the Airline’s Station Manager.

To recognize his honesty, NAHCO hosted Dankode at their headquarters at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos. In a heartfelt moment, Dankode expressed his gratitude, noting that no one from his community had ever worked at the airport. He thanked NAHCO for the training and the opportunity to earn a decent living, saying, “I am deeply thankful to the NAHCO Management for the honor and recognition of my effort.”

Mr. Indranil Gupta, the Group Managing Director/CEO of NAHCO, praised Dankode for exemplifying the company’s core values of honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work. He announced a generous cash reward, an instant promotion, and appointed Dankode as NAHCO’s Brand Ambassador. Gupta stated, “We are truly proud of the exemplary character exhibited by Auwal. He is a true NAHCO ambassador and an embodiment of what NAHCO stands for.”

The ceremony also featured commendations from other top officials, including Chief Financial Officer Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, who highlighted Dankode’s innate integrity, and Chief Operating Officer Mr. Didier Steullet, who urged Dankode to remain grounded despite the recognition. Group Executive Director Dr. Sola Obabori added, “In today’s Nigeria, where the value of the dollar is so high, by returning so much of it, you’ve done something commendable. You’ve shown that you’re a man with a pure heart, and every well-meaning Nigerian will appreciate what you have done.”

Dankode invited several family members to the ceremony, where they witnessed him being celebrated as NAHCO’s new Brand Ambassador. In this role, Dankode will represent the company at major events across the country, promote its brand, and have opportunities to engage with top officials and stakeholders.

This recognition marks the beginning of a new chapter in Dankode’s career, as NAHCO looks forward to his continued success and contribution to the company’s values.
