President Tinubu Arrives in Beijing for Five-Day Official Visit to China

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Beijing, China, for a five-day official visit aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s economic ties and securing strategic investments. The President landed at Beijing Capital International Airport on Sunday morning.

The news of his arrival was confirmed by his Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, who posted on his verified X handle: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrives in Beijing for his Official State Visit to China. He will meet with President Xi Jinping and will hold meetings with Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.”

Preparations for President Tinubu’s visit had been finalized ahead of his arrival, ensuring a warm reception by the Chinese government.

In a media briefing held earlier, Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, outlined the key objectives of the visit, emphasizing its focus on strengthening economic partnerships and attracting investment in vital sectors.

“President Tinubu’s agenda includes site visits to major Chinese corporations such as Huawei Technologies and China Rail and Construction Corporation (CRCC),” Ngelale stated. “These visits are crucial for advancing the Ibadan to Abuja segment of the Lagos to Kano high-speed rail project.”

Additionally, the President will meet with the CEOs of ten leading Chinese companies, managing assets exceeding $3 trillion across various sectors, including ICT, oil and gas refining, aluminum production, and satellite technology development.

President Tinubu is also scheduled to hold talks with President Xi Jinping, during which multiple MoUs will be signed. These agreements will cover cooperation in green economy initiatives, agriculture, satellite technology, media enterprise development, blue economy, and national planning.

The visit will culminate in President Tinubu’s participation in the FOCAC Summit, where he will represent the region as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. He will deliver remarks on peace and security in Africa, emphasizing Nigeria’s role in regional stability.

Ngelale emphasized the importance of the visit, noting that it is expected to yield tangible benefits for Nigeria’s economy and its citizens. “This engagement is not merely a talk-shop but is aimed at producing concrete results that justify the expenditure of this trip,” he concluded.
