The Kano State House of Assembly has passed a ₦99 billion supplementary budget aimed at enabling the state government to implement the new ₦70,000 minimum wage, alongside other essential services.
During the session, the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Jibril Falgore, explained that the supplementary budget would cover recurrent, personnel, and overhead costs. He also commended his colleagues for their swift contributions, which facilitated the speedy passage of the bill.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf had submitted the ₦99 billion supplementary budget to the Assembly on August 20, 2024.
With the approval of the new budget, the majority leader noted that Kano State’s total budget for 2024 now stands at ₦536 billion.
