Ekiti Governor Approves Work-from-Home Policy for Civil Servants

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has announced a new work-from-home policy for civil servants aimed at alleviating the impact of the current economic conditions.

In a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji outlined that the policy, effective from Monday, September 9, 2024, is designed to ease economic pressures on state workers.

The policy excludes essential personnel such as teachers, core health workers, and security staff. Under the new guidelines, civil servants will work remotely based on their job levels: those on levels 01-07 will work from home three days a week, those on levels 08-12 two days a week, and those on levels 13-17 once a week.

Each government agency is required to develop a sustainable schedule for their staff to ensure that the remote work arrangement does not compromise service delivery.

Oyebode emphasized that the policy would be in place for two months and subject to periodic reviews based on prevailing conditions. He also assured that this new arrangement will not affect other state government initiatives, including the monthly wage awards for workers and pensioners, or the free bus service for workers and students.

“The Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji administration remains dedicated to enhancing workers’ welfare and productivity,” Oyebode concluded.
