Kano Govt Announces Sudden Postponement of School Resumption

The Kano State Government has postponed the resumption of primary and post-primary schools for the 2024/2025 academic session, citing urgent but undisclosed reasons.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Saturday by Balarabe Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Education. According to Kiru, the Commissioner for Education, Umar Doguwa, explained that the decision was made to address critical issues that would enhance the learning environment for students.

“I wish to inform pupils, students, and parents that the previously announced resumption dates of September 8th and 9th, 2024, have been postponed due to urgent reasons aimed at creating a more conducive learning atmosphere for our children. A new date will be communicated in due course,” the statement read.

Kiru urged students, parents, and guardians to remain patient and understanding as the ministry works to resolve the situation. He acknowledged the inconvenience the postponement may cause but emphasized the importance of the decision for the overall improvement of the state’s educational system.

The Ministry of Education assured the public that the new resumption date would be announced soon.
