BREAKING: Augustine Eguavoen Steps Down as Super Eagles Coach

Augustine Eguavoen has officially resigned as the interim head coach of the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, after completing his assigned tasks.

In a statement reported by Politics Nigeria, Eguavoen clarified that his mandate was limited to overseeing two key matches, which he has now fulfilled.

Eguavoen, who also serves as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director, was appointed to the interim role after the federation faced difficulties securing a permanent coach for the national team.

During his brief stint, Eguavoen managed the Super Eagles through two crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches. The team triumphed with a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic but played out a goalless draw against Rwanda on Tuesday.

As the NFF resumes its search for a permanent head coach, Eguavoen steps down, having met the expectations set for his temporary position.
