JUST IN.: Capture of Bandit Leader Bello Turji Imminent – CDS Assures

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has assured Nigerians that the capture of notorious terrorist and bandit leader, Bello Turji, is on the horizon. Musa made this statement during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, while providing updates on military operations across the country.

“Turji’s capture is imminent,” Musa stated, expressing confidence that the notorious figure will soon be brought to justice. He described Turji as “a deranged individual who feels powerful,” but emphasized that it is only a matter of time before the military closes in on him.

“We are going to get him, and I can assure you, within the shortest possible time, this issue will be addressed,” Musa declared.

He urged the public to cooperate with security forces by denying bandits freedom of movement and withholding any form of support or information. “Do not provide them with any assistance or inform them about troop movements. This is a major challenge we face—informants within the communities are aiding these criminals,” he said.

Musa also highlighted the complexities of fighting asymmetric warfare, stressing that it is particularly difficult when non-state actors blend into civilian populations. “You are dealing with people who don’t wear uniforms, and you can’t identify them, but they know you. Without community support, it becomes exceedingly difficult,” he added.

Despite these challenges, the CDS reassured Nigerians that the armed forces, in collaboration with other security agencies, remain committed to eliminating security threats and restoring peace across the nation. He also called on the media and the general public to support the military in their efforts to secure the country.
