Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved a budget of ₦3.6 billion for the construction of an ultramodern market in Gusau, the state capital. This was announced in a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mannir Haidara, on Tuesday.
The decision was made during a State Executive Council meeting held in Gusau. According to Mr. Haidara, the project will be carried out under a public-private partnership (PPP) between the Zamfara State government and Dhinat Global Ventures Ltd. The construction is expected to be completed over a 120-month period. Under the terms of the agreement, the state government’s primary role is to provide the land for the project.
The site of the new market will be the location of the existing Gusau market, which will be transformed into a state-of-the-art commercial hub. Mr. Haidara highlighted that the project is a crucial element of the government’s strategy to boost commerce, stimulate local economic growth, and create a business-friendly environment in the state.
“The proposed market will not only serve as a modern trading center but also contribute to job creation and enhance the state’s overall economic outlook,” Haidara said. He also expressed gratitude to the people of Zamfara for their support and cooperation, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the successful completion of the project.
