BREAKING: Bandits Ambush Security Convoy, Kill 5 Policemen, 3 Soldiers in Zamfara

In a deadly ambush on Thursday morning, five police officers and three soldiers were killed by bandits in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The attack occurred as the security personnel were escorting workers from Setraco Nigeria Limited, a construction company operating in the area.

A military source confirmed the tragic incident, revealing that the security team was caught off guard when the bandits opened fire. The ambush led to the deaths of eight security officers—five policemen and three soldiers.

However, a swift response by the military prevented further casualties among the construction workers and other members of the convoy. “The troops escorting Setraco workers on their way to Tsafe LGA encountered an ambush,” the source explained. “Unfortunately, we lost three soldiers and five policemen, and the terrorists seized their rifles.”

Despite the significant loss, the source noted that several bandits were killed in the ensuing firefight. “The police have since evacuated the bodies of the personnel and the bandits,” the source added.

This incident comes shortly after another report of bandits blocking the Gusau-Funtua highway, a major route in Zamfara State, and abducting an unspecified number of travelers. The spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, Yezid Abubakar, confirmed the highway abduction and stated that police had deployed personnel to the scene, though details about the number of victims were still pending.
