Federal Govt Declares Monday, September 16, Public Holiday

The Federal Government has officially declared Monday, September 16, 2024, a public holiday in celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The announcement was made on Friday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry.

In his message, the Minister extended his congratulations to the Muslim Ummah, both within Nigeria and abroad, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid. He encouraged Muslims, as well as all Nigerians, to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience during this period.

Tunji-Ojo further urged the Muslim community to use the occasion to offer prayers for lasting peace and the continued progress of the nation, fostering a more prosperous and just society.
