Tragic incident on Sunday, bandits attacked a church service in the Bakinpah-Maro community, located in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, leaving three people feared dead and 30 others abducted.
While official statements from the police are yet to be released, the former chairman of Kajuru LGA, Cafra Caino, confirmed the attack, stating that 30 people were kidnapped. He added that the bandits, who arrived in large numbers around 10:00 AM, specifically targeted worshippers at an Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and a Catholic church.
Among those taken was Bernard Gajera, a pastor from one of the affected churches.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have plagued the region. Last month, the Maro community had raised funds to construct a security post for law enforcement, hoping to boost security presence in the area following repeated assaults that have prevented farmers from safely accessing their fields.
