Government Warns Head Teachers: No Meetings During School Hours

The Oyo State Government has issued a stern warning to head teachers of all public primary schools, prohibiting any form of meeting during school hours. This directive was delivered by Dr. Nureni Adeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYO-SUBEB), during a routine inspection of school resumption activities in Ibadan on Tuesday.

Dr. Adeniran emphasized that the move aims to ensure strict compliance with the state’s unified school timetable, designed to maximize teaching and learning time in public schools.

“This serves as a clear warning to all head teachers and staff: meetings during school hours will no longer be tolerated,” Adeniran stated. “Any head teacher found violating this directive will face serious consequences.”

He further urged educational unions and associations within the basic education sector to respect the directive as the new academic session begins.

To ensure widespread compliance, Dr. Adeniran instructed Education Secretaries to promptly communicate this information to all head teachers under their respective Local Government Universal Basic Education Authorities.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Dr. Adeniran expressed satisfaction with the resumption turnout of pupils in public schools, while also encouraging teachers to remain dedicated to their duties.

He reiterated the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration to improving the quality of education in the state’s public schools, stressing that such measures are essential for enhancing educational outcomes.
