BREAKING: Three Pro-Yoruba Nation Activists Detained in Osun Market

Police operatives in Osun State have arrested three individuals advocating for the Yoruba Nation at Obada Market in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area. The arrests occurred on August 27, around 2 p.m., when the agitators were displaying the Yoruba Nation flag and encouraging marketgoers to support the secessionist movement.

The suspects, identified as Fagbuyi Oluwafemi (61), Joy Faseyeku (63), and Alabede Janet (64), were taken into custody following Oluwafemi’s address to the public, urging them to renounce allegiance to Nigeria. He claimed that Nigeria had ceased to exist after 2014, citing the end of the country’s 100-year amalgamation.

In a statement, Osun State Police Acting Spokesperson Emmanuel Giwa-Alade confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. Faseyeku was arrested in Osogbo, while Janet was apprehended in Ikire. All three suspects are being held in connection with what authorities describe as efforts to incite public unrest.
