JUST IN: Ex-Gov Yahaya Bello Finally Honors EFCC Invitation

Former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has formally responded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) invitation, marking a significant development in an ongoing case.

Bello’s media office announced the decision in a statement on Wednesday, revealing that he chose to comply after consulting with his family, legal advisers, and political allies.

The EFCC had declared the former governor wanted in April following his repeated failure to appear for questioning and alleged attempts to resist arrest. Earlier, EFCC officials had made an unsuccessful attempt to detain Bello at his residence, prompting the agency to seek additional support from the Nigerian Police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

The situation escalated as law enforcement agents prepared to forcibly arrest Bello, only for Governor Usman Ododo to arrive at the scene. After a brief stay, Ododo left the premises, but speculation soon surfaced that Bello was hidden in his vehicle. In response, security operatives, who had been stationed at the scene for hours, opened fire on the convoy.

The unfolding drama underscores the tense atmosphere surrounding the former governor’s legal troubles.
