Ganduje Clears Air on Alleged Plot to Remove Emir Sanusi II

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has refuted claims of orchestrating a plot to dethrone Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment, Chief Oliver Okpala, Ganduje labeled the accusations as “preposterous and absurd.” The allegations surfaced on social media, suggesting Ganduje’s involvement in a renewed attempt to remove Emir Sanusi II.

The former Kano State governor firmly denied any link to the alleged plot, clarifying that his current role as APC National Chairman renders him uninvolved in state-level matters, such as the Emirship of Kano.

“It is important to categorically state that Dr. Ganduje has no connection to the present enthronement or dethronement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi in Kano state,” the statement read.

Ganduje further highlighted that, having left his position as governor years ago, he no longer holds any executive power in Kano State, and thus, cannot influence decisions regarding the Emirship.

“It is laughable that Dr. Ganduje, who has been out of office as governor for years, would be accused of masterminding a new plot to remove or install an Emir,” the statement continued.

The former governor also dismissed additional allegations that he was advising the current Emir, Alhaji Ado Bayero, to abdicate the throne for peace to prevail. He emphasized that his focus is now on national issues as he leads the APC.

“Dr. Ganduje has moved on from state-level governance and is now focused on his responsibilities as the chairman of Nigeria’s ruling party,” the statement concluded.
