EFCC Cracks Down on Vote Buying in Edo Governorship Election

In a determined effort to curb electoral malpractice, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has deployed officers to polling stations across Edo State during today’s governorship election. Their mission: to clamp down on vote buying and ensure a free and fair election process.

This development was revealed by Frank Mba, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the election, during an interview with Channels TV on Saturday morning. Mba highlighted that intelligence reports had uncovered schemes by certain politicians to print fake identity cards for fraudulent election observers. He reassured the public that the police, along with other security agencies, are fully prepared to deal with such perpetrators.

Mba further disclosed that some criminal elements had also produced counterfeit security uniforms with the intent of infiltrating the election. He issued a stern warning to those involved, vowing that law enforcement agencies would take swift action.

“We are coming after you. Your cover has already been blown. If you’ve made fake uniforms or plan to recruit criminals, we are also coming after you,” Mba declared, underscoring the readiness of security forces to ensure the integrity of the election.
