1,000 Zamfara Women Receive ₦50,000 Empowerment Grant from Oluremi Tinubu

In Zamfara State, 1,000 women petty traders have each been awarded ₦50,000 to help recapitalize and grow their businesses. The initiative, facilitated by the wife of the state governor, Hurriya Lawal, aims to provide economic relief and opportunities for women across the state’s 14 local government areas. The support comes as part of the Renewed Hope Economic Empowerment Programme, spearheaded by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.

Hurriya Lawal emphasized that the financial grant is designed to tackle the challenges faced by women traders, with the goal of expanding their businesses, creating jobs, and making meaningful contributions to the state’s economy. She stressed that empowering women economically is not only a moral obligation but a strategic one, noting that when women succeed, it positively impacts their families and, by extension, the broader community.

“The resilience shown by these women in overcoming various obstacles is remarkable,” Lawal said, commending their role as key drivers of the economy. She described women petty traders as the foundation of their communities and unsung heroes of the nation’s economic development.

Also speaking at the event, the Zamfara State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, Abdulrahman Tumbido, underscored that the initiative reflects the governor’s wife’s commitment to uplifting women across the state. He explained that this empowerment program aligns with the administration’s broader agenda to combat poverty and unemployment while promoting self-reliance among the people.

As part of the initiative, Hurriya Lawal visited multiple local government areas to personally distribute the ₦50,000 grants to the women. She expressed confidence that this intervention would have a lasting positive impact on families across Zamfara State.
