The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in all 17 local government chairmanship positions in the council elections held on Saturday, September 22, in Enugu State.
Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), Prof. Christian Ngwu, officially declared the results, commending the election process as transparent and well-managed. He highlighted the careful collation and analysis of votes to ensure accuracy.
“This election was one of the most transparent we’ve conducted. We meticulously collated and analysed the results to avoid any mistakes,” Ngwu stated.
Despite the clean sweep by the PDP, candidates from opposition parties were notably absent from the ENSIEC office during the announcement of the results.
Reacting to the PDP’s landslide victory, Greg Amyaegbudike, the chairman-elect for Oji River Local Government, expressed his gratitude and outlined his plans for youth empowerment. He pledged to prioritize job creation and skills acquisition programs to improve opportunities for the youth in the community.
“I am committed to ensuring that the youth of Oji River are gainfully employed. Those who are employable will find jobs, and we will organize skills acquisition programs to benefit everyone,” Amyaegbudike said.
The election results further solidify PDP’s dominance in the region, marking another significant win for the party in Enugu State.
