Edo Polls: PDP Leads by 29,000 Votes as INEC Nears Completion of Results Upload

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 98.56% of election results on the IREV portal, with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) maintaining a lead of approximately 29,000 votes. However, concerns are mounting over the delay in uploading the remaining 1.44% of results.

Under electoral guidelines, results are to be uploaded directly from polling units immediately after vote counting to ensure transparency. The delay in posting the final batch of results raises questions about why this process has stalled. Is voting still ongoing in these areas, or are there other factors at play?

By law, any result not uploaded directly from the unit level is considered invalid, a safeguard meant to prevent tampering and ensure the integrity of the election process. As INEC nears the completion of this crucial step, it is vital that observers remain vigilant, ensuring that all results are accurately and promptly reported, safeguarding the credibility of the election.
