Bobrisky Claims He Never Spent a Day in Prison, Stayed in Lodge During Jail Term

Controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has allegedly revealed that he never spent a single day in prison following his conviction and sentencing for naira abuse in April 2024.

In a voice recording released by social media influencer, VeryDarkMan, on Tuesday night, Bobrisky claimed that he had made alternative arrangements during his supposed imprisonment. According to the recording, he stated that he paid N15 million to some officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop money laundering charges that were initially raised against him.

Furthermore, Bobrisky alleged that after being sentenced to six months in prison, a high-profile benefactor—whom he referred to as his “godfather”—intervened. Following this intervention, prison authorities reportedly arranged for him to stay in a private lodge rather than serve his sentence in a correctional facility. To maintain the appearance of compliance, he claimed that he was instructed to remain in the lodge for the entire duration of his sentence, with strict orders not to disclose the arrangement.

Bobrisky was arrested by the EFCC in Lagos in April 2024 for naira abuse and sentenced to six months in jail without an option for a fine. He was released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on August 5, 2024, after reportedly serving more than four months of his sentence.

The allegations have sparked controversy, raising questions about the integrity of Nigeria’s judicial and correctional systems.
