Tinubu Criticizes Ministers for Failing to Highlight His Achievements to Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu is preparing to reshuffle his cabinet, signaling potential changes in the leadership of key ministries, as concerns grow over the government’s communication strategy.

In a press briefing at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, revealed that the President is frustrated by a communication gap between ministries and the public.

Onanuga emphasized that despite notable progress in various sectors, many Nigerians remain unaware of the government’s accomplishments due to inadequate media engagement by ministers.

“The President has directed ministers to be more proactive in publicizing the activities and achievements of their ministries,” Onanuga stated.

He added that the impending reshuffle aims to better position the government to serve Nigerians, while urging ministers to overcome their reluctance to engage with the media.

“The President has expressed his intent to reshuffle his cabinet, and while he hasn’t provided a specific timeline, it will happen soon. I can’t confirm if it will be before October 1, but it’s certainly on the horizon,” Onanuga remarked.

On the administration’s performance, he reiterated that the President had recently instructed all ministers during the last Federal Executive Council meeting to actively promote the government’s work.

“Some ministers have been hesitant to speak on television or radio, but the President wants them to overcome this and communicate effectively with the public,” Onanuga explained. “There’s a perception that the government isn’t doing enough, but in reality, significant progress has been made. It’s now up to the ministers to go out and trumpet these achievements.”

The reshuffle is expected to reinvigorate the administration’s communication efforts and ensure Nigerians are better informed about government initiatives.
