BREAKING: Fed Govt Declares Public Holiday for Independence Day

The Federal Government has officially declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government. In a statement released on Saturday, Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to Nigerians, both at home and abroad, on this significant national milestone.

He commended the perseverance and hard work of Nigerian citizens, recognizing the enduring sacrifices they continue to make for the nation’s progress. “Your sacrifices will not be in vain,” he reassured.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of reflecting on the contributions of Nigeria’s founding heroes, urging citizens to draw inspiration from their legacy. “We must remember the labour of our heroes past and be motivated to rise to the challenges ahead,” he said. “A Nigeria of our dreams can only be realized through unity and collective effort.”

Tunji-Ojo called on all Nigerians to remain committed to nation-building and work together to create a prosperous and unified future.

This year marks 64 years since Nigeria gained independence from British colonial rule, and the celebration serves as a reminder of the nation’s journey towards sovereignty and self-determination.
