President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the names of the first-ever Governing Board members for the North West Development Commission (NWDC) to the Senate for confirmation, marking a significant step forward in the Commission’s establishment.
This follows the President’s approval of the North West Development Commission Bill, which he signed into law on July 24. The NWDC is tasked with driving development initiatives, economic empowerment, and social progress across the North-West region.
Governing Board Nominees:
- Chairman: Ambassador Haruna Ginsau (Jigawa)
- Managing Director/CEO: Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji (Kano)
Board Members:
- Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto)
- Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi)
- Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara)
- Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna)
- Hon. Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano)
- Shamsu Sule (Katsina)
- Nasidi Ali (Jigawa)
These nominees are expected to bring a wealth of experience and expertise to help the Commission fulfill its mandate of promoting the region’s growth and sustainable development.
