BREAKING: Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal Appoints New ZASIEC Chairman

Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of Bala Aliyu Gusau as the new Chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC). This appointment is in line with the powers vested in the governor by the Zamfara State Electoral Laws.

The announcement, made in a statement by Suleman Ahmad Tudu, Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, follows the recent passing of the former ZASIEC Chairman.

A public notice signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, confirmed that the appointment is subject to the approval of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

Bala Aliyu Gusau brings a wealth of experience from his extensive public service career spanning over three decades. He holds a B.Sc. in Education (Economics) from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, as well as two postgraduate certificates in leadership and development from Galilee College, Israel, and Kansas State University, USA.

Throughout his career, Gusau has served in various roles, including Director at the Zamfara State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, and later in the federal civil service with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), where he held key positions such as Zonal Director (Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara) and Director of Special Duties at NTA Headquarters, Abuja. He also served as a Permanent Member of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board.

Governor Lawal expressed confidence that Gusau’s experience will contribute significantly to ZASIEC’s mission to conduct free, fair, and credible local government elections in Zamfara State.
