Bauchi Inaugurates 11-Member C’ttee for ₦70,000 M’Wage Implementation

The Bauchi State government has inaugurated an 11-member Tripartite Technical Committee tasked with accelerating the implementation of the newly approved National Minimum Wage of ₦70,000.

The committee’s membership includes representatives from the state government, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), ensuring that all key stakeholders are involved in the process.

Speaking at a news conference in Bauchi on Friday, Dauda Shuaibu, Chairman of the Bauchi NLC, announced the formation of the committee following a meeting between the organised labour and members of the State Executive Council.

He highlighted that the approval of the ₦70,000 minimum wage for workers marks a significant step towards improving the living standards of state employees.

“This development represents a crucial milestone in efforts to enhance the welfare of workers,” Shuaibu stated.

According to him, the committee’s main objective is to establish modalities for the effective payment of the new wage, taking into account the various salary structures across the state.

The committee is set to commence work immediately, with negotiations beginning on October 4. This timeline aims to expedite the implementation process, ensuring that workers benefit from the new wage without unnecessary delays.
