Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, will swear in the newly elected local government chairmen today, following their successful election held on Saturday.
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the State Government.
The announcement follows the declaration of election results by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), which revealed that the Action Peoples Party (APP) secured victories in 22 out of the 23 local government areas.
According to the statement:
“His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will today, Sunday, October 6, 2024, swear in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4:00 PM.”
The statement also noted that the newly elected chairmen, each accompanied by one guest, are expected to be seated by 3:30 PM.
