Matawalle Attacks Amaechi for ‘Exploiting Public Suffering’

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, has strongly criticized former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of stoking unrest and taking advantage of the hardships faced by Nigerians.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Defence’s spokesperson, Henshaw Ogubike, Dr. Matawalle issued a stern rebuke, calling on Amaechi to refrain from making inflammatory comments that could destabilize the nation.

The statement highlighted Matawalle’s concern over the potentially dangerous impact of such remarks, stating, “It is both reckless and irresponsible for a former public official of Amaechi’s stature to incite Nigerians against their own government.”

Matawalle stressed that these statements are especially harmful at a time when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working relentlessly to address the country’s challenges through reforms that are beginning to show results.

“It is absurd, preposterous, and shameful for anyone to exploit the genuine struggles of our citizens for selfish political gain,” Matawalle said.

He reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring the peace and security of all Nigerians, warning that attempts to destabilize the country through incitement would not be tolerated.

“We will not allow anyone to incite violence or exploit the current situation for political purposes,” the Minister declared, adding, “Let this serve as a final warning to Amaechi and his allies.”

Matawalle further urged Amaechi to avoid casting aspersions on the government’s sincere efforts to improve the lives of Nigerians, emphasizing that the former Minister should be working with the administration to move the country forward rather than making “narrow-minded assertions.”
