Ogun LG Elections: APC Candidate Stoned to Death By Assailants

Adeleke Adeyinka, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ward 15 in Abeokuta South, Ogun State, has been tragically killed by yet-to-be-identified assailants. The incident occurred ahead of the November local government elections.

Adeyinka, who previously served as the Youth Leader of Ward 15, was brutally attacked in the Jide Jones area of Abeokuta Central Business District on Saturday. According to reports, the assailants, who were in a car with tinted windows, trailed Adeyinka to the location, shot him, and then stoned him to death.

Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Omolola Odutola, have so far been unsuccessful.

The Ogun Youth Leaders’ Forum condemned the brutal murder, expressing their grief and shock. In a statement, the forum described Adeyinka as a promising leader and a dedicated member of the APC.

“Adeleke was not only a promising young leader but also a committed member of our party, having served as the youth leader of Ward 15 in Abeokuta South. He worked tirelessly alongside others during the election process,” the statement read.

The forum called for a thorough investigation into the killing and urged authorities to ensure justice is served. They also appealed for increased security measures in the area to prevent further violence.

“Adeleke’s contributions to the Ogun State youth community will not be forgotten. His untimely death is a profound loss to all of us. We demand that those responsible for this heinous act be swiftly brought to justice,” the statement concluded.
