Fire Guts Zamfara Speaker’s Residence, Destroys Property Worth Millions

Parts of the residence of the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, were severely damaged by a fire outbreak in Gusau, the state capital, over the weekend. The incident led to the destruction of properties valued at millions of Naira, though fortunately, no casualties were recorded.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Bello Madaro, the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu, conveyed shock and dismay on behalf of the Assembly and its staff, describing the fire as a tragic and unfortunate calamity. Alhaji Aliyu noted that the incident was a manifestation of divine will, offering words of comfort and support to the Speaker, his family, and the people of Zurmi West, whom Hon. Moriki represents.

The Speaker’s residence, an important landmark in the capital, drew the attention of numerous political figures and supporters, who flocked to the scene to express their condolences and show solidarity. This response underscored the high regard in which the Speaker is held within the state’s political circles.

Hon. Bilyaminu Moriki expressed deep gratitude to Allah for sparing lives and commended all those who helped in curtailing the spread of the inferno. He extended his appreciation to well-wishers for their overwhelming support and prayers during this trying period.
