Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has officially announced the successful migration to the advanced Finacle Core Banking Application System. The bank informed its customers about the completion of this transition through an email on Monday, extending branch operating hours until 6 p.m. to accommodate customer needs.
“We are pleased to inform you that we have successfully transitioned to a new and robust suite of Finacle Core Banking Application Systems. All our branches will be open until 6 p.m. today to serve you,” the bank’s statement read.
The transition process, which began on Friday, October 11, required GTBank to temporarily halt transactions and close branches early that day, sparking some frustration among customers. Initially scheduled to conclude by Monday noon, the upgrade experienced delays, prompting the bank to issue updates.
“Following our recent notification on the transition to a new and robust suite of Finacle Core Banking Application Systems, we would like to update you that this process has taken longer than expected,” GTBank posted on Instagram.
With this update, GTBank joins over ten other Nigerian commercial banks that have adopted the Finacle software. Group CEO Segun Agbaje first announced the decision to implement the new technology in July 2024.
