In a political shift, over 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, marking another wave of defections within a short span.
The latest defection occurred in Tofa and Ghari Local Government Areas, where the former APC members were officially welcomed into the NNPP by the state party chairman, Dr. Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, during a well-attended ceremony.
The event coincided with the launch of the NNPP’s chairmanship campaign, ahead of the upcoming local government elections. Present at the ceremony were the NNPP candidates for Tofa and Ghari, Yakubu Ibrahim Adis and Hashimu Mai Sabulu, respectively.
Both candidates expressed optimism about the party’s growing influence, citing the influx of defectors as a strong indicator of the NNPP’s increasing dominance in Kano State politics.
