Boko Haram Strikes Borno Military Base, Kills Soldier, His Girlfriend

A soldier was killed on Monday following an attack by Boko Haram terrorists on troops stationed at the 112 Battalion in Mafa Local Government Area, Borno State.

Security sources informed SaharaReporters that the attack targeted a military outpost known as Tango 19. Along with the soldier, a civilian woman, identified as the soldier’s girlfriend, also lost her life in the assault. She had reportedly been smuggled into the camp the previous night.

“One of our soldiers was killed early this morning at Tango 19 in Mafa by Boko Haram terrorists,” a source revealed. “The woman he secretly brought into the camp last night was also killed.”

Boko Haram has been waging an insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East for nearly two decades, leading to widespread devastation in the region.

Efforts to reach the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
