On Wednesday, former house member, representing Anka and Mafara federal constituency, Hon Kabiru Yahaya Classic, a prominent PDP figure in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, held an emergency meeting at his residence. The gathering brought together ward leaders and supporters from across the eleven constituencies of the local government. Despite the last-minute nature of the meeting, a significant number of his supporters were able to attend.
The purpose of the meeting was to address growing concerns within the PDP in Talata Mafara. Hon Kabiru Classic expressed his deep frustration and dissatisfaction with Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal, accusing him of neglecting his supporters in the local government, particularly those who played a key role in his 2023 election victory.
Hon Classic delivered a strong ultimatum to the governor, calling on him to take action within one week. He emphasized that the outcome of the governor’s response, or lack thereof, would determine the next steps for himself and his supporters.
“We await a response from the governor or his spokesperson within the week,” Classic said. “Whatever the outcome, we will decide on the way forward to provide solutions for our supporters.”
During the meeting, Classic criticized the governor’s perceived abandonment of his loyalists across Talata Mafara and stressed the importance of justice in leadership. He referenced a saying that even an infidel leader, if just in his rule, can win the favor of the people, warning that injustice would not be tolerated by God or the community.
The discontent expressed by Hon Kabiru Classic is not an isolated incident, as many PDP supporters in Zamfara State reportedly share similar grievances about being sidelined by the current administration.
As tensions rise, all eyes are now on Governor Dauda Lawal’s office to see how the situation will be addressed within the coming days.
