BREAKING: National Grid Restored After Brief Disruption

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the full restoration of power supply following a brief disturbance on the national grid.

In a statement released on Saturday by TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the incident occurred at 8:15 a.m. when an explosion was reported at the 330kV Jebba Transmission Substation.

The blast triggered the grid’s protection system, which swiftly contained the issue, preventing more extensive damage or a potential fire outbreak.

According to TCN, its engineers immediately responded by isolating the faulty current transformer and reconfiguring the busbar arrangement. This enabled the restoration of power to affected areas within a short time frame.

However, this marks the third grid disturbance within a week, and the eighth so far this year, raising concerns about the stability of Nigeria’s national electricity grid.
