DSS Appoints New Chief Security Officer to President Tinubu

The Department of State Services (DSS) has appointed Rasheed Atanda Lawal, a Deputy Director, as the new Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Tinubu, replacing Adegboyega Fasasi. Fasasi, who has held the position since Tinubu’s inauguration, is stepping down to pursue a professional training program, according to sources.

Details surrounding the change remain sparse, but insiders suggest that DSS Director-General Tosin Ajayi requested President Tinubu’s approval to release Fasasi for this strategic training opportunity. While the reshuffle has sparked some speculation, sources close to the matter insist that it is a routine transition within the agency.

“It’s not uncommon for such changes to occur when a new Director-General takes over,” an anonymous source stated. “Typically, the new leadership prefers to appoint trusted personnel in sensitive roles, particularly in security operations involving the President.”

The source added that while Fasasi’s departure is officially linked to his training, such moves can sometimes involve other considerations. However, they urged the public to view the change as a standard practice rather than a cause for concern.

As of Sunday evening, no official statement had been issued confirming the details of the transition. However, another source assured that the development should be seen as a routine security posting within the DSS.
