BREAKING: FG Withdraws Money Laundering Charges Against Binance Executive

The Federal Government on Wednesday dropped the money laundering charges filed against Tigran Gambaryan, an executive of Binance Holdings Limited.

Gambaryan, who serves as Binance’s U.S. head of financial crime compliance, was facing charges alongside the exchange’s British-Kenyan regional manager for Africa, Nadeem Anjarwalla. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had accused them of involvement in a $35 million money laundering scheme.

Both Gambaryan and Anjarwalla were initially detained by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). However, Anjarwalla escaped lawful custody on March 22, 2024, while Gambaryan was arraigned in court in April. The court subsequently ordered Gambaryan’s remand at Kuje Correctional Facility.
