In a major cabinet shake-up, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has announced the dissolution of the Ministry of Niger Delta and the Ministry of Sports Development. The responsibilities of the sports ministry will now be transferred to the National Sports Commission (NSC).
According to the FEC, the NSC will fully assume the functions previously managed by the Ministry of Sports Development, signaling a shift in how sports administration will be handled going forward.
Additionally, the FEC has approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, aiming to streamline operations and foster growth in both sectors.
In a related development, a new Ministry of Regional Development will be established to oversee the activities of the newly formed zonal development commissions, which are expected to focus on regional growth and infrastructure.
