Kebbi Governor Approves ₦75,000 Minimum Wage for Workers

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has approved a new minimum wage of ₦75,000 for the lowest-paid civil servants in the state. The wage increase was signed into law at the statehouse earlier today, in the presence of national officials from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), led by its president, Joe Ajaero.

In a related development, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has also announced a new minimum wage of ₦80,000 for state employees. To ensure smooth implementation, Governor Eno has set up an Implementation Committee tasked with finalizing the modalities of the wage increase within one month.

The committee, chaired by the State’s Head of Civil Service, includes key stakeholders such as the State’s Accountant General, and the Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees.

Ini Ememobong, the State Commissioner for Information, confirmed the announcement on Wednesday, emphasizing that the move reflects the state government’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of its workforce.
