APC’s Four-Way Split threatens their Role in Zamfara LG Elections – Hon. Agege

In a recent interview, Hon. Kabiru Musa Agege, the Zamfara State Zonal Vice Chairman Central of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), articulated the current political landscape in Zamfara State, particularly regarding the forthcoming local government elections.

He asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC), the main opposition party in the state, is struggling to maintain relevance amidst its internal divisions, which he highlighted as the source of their hesitance to participate in the elections.

Hon. Agege pointed out that the APC is fragmented into four distinct factions, raising concerns over leadership and cohesiveness in potential electoral processes. This disunity not only hampers their chances but also casts doubt on their capacity to effectively engage in local governance.

In contrast, he emphasized that the PDP, under the leadership of Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal, is well-prepared and unified in their approach to the elections. The party, along with various other political organizations, is committed to participating fully in a political climate that the Zamfara Independent Election Commission has pledged will be free and fair across all 147 wards and 14 local governments.

Furthermore, the PDP’s focus on unity among its members stands as a testament to its commitment to developmental progress in the region. According to Hon. Agege, the achievements of the PDP-led government, particularly in implementing developmental projects, have garnered significant support from the citizens of Zamfara State.

He expressed confidence that this backing will be pivotal in the upcoming elections, positioning the PDP as not only a viable but a preferred choice for local governance. Ultimately, the PDP’s strategic positioning and organizational strength appear to contrast sharply with the fragmented state of the APC, setting the stage for an interesting electoral contest.
