Troops Capture Wanted Bandit Leader, Habu Dogo, and Seven IPOB/ESN Terrorists

The Defence Headquarters announced that, in the past week, troops have captured Abubakar Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo, a notorious leader of bandits operating in Sokoto. Additionally, seven commanders affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) were apprehended in the South-East.

In a statement on Saturday, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed that Habu Dogo was captured in Rumji Village within Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Dogo, a wanted figure on the watchlists of both Nigerian and Nigerien security agencies, is notorious for his cross-border criminal activities.

Among those detained in the South-East are IPOB/ESN operatives Dr. Nnamdi Chukwudoze and Chigozie Ezetoha, also known as “Chapet,” who were arrested in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State.

“Other apprehended individuals include Mrs. Ngozi Chukwuka and Mr. Oyekachi Ohia, taken into custody in Umuahia South Local Government Area, Abia State,” Maj.-Gen. Buba added.

Also arrested were Ifeanyi Eze, Augustine Udemba, and Onyedikachi Udemba in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, as well as Elijah Mmaduipeya Obumneke in Orsu Local Government Area, Imo State.

The Defence Headquarters emphasized that ongoing counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations are significantly degrading terrorist groups’ combat capabilities across the country.
