Dr. Tsafe Criticizes Zamfara Govt Over Abandonment of Indigenous Students in Cyprus

In response to a recent press statement from the Zamfara State Government, prominent scholar Dr. Al-Amin Tsafe has issued a strong critique of the state’s handling of its sponsored students at Cyprus International University. Dr. Tsafe’s comments came after Governor Dauda Lawal’s spokesperson released details about the committee sent to address the students’ challenges. Reflecting on the government’s approach, Dr. Tsafe stated, “Reading through the press release by Governor Dauda Lawal’s spokesperson regarding the issue of our students in Cyprus, one is left with more questions than answers.” While he commended the government for responding to the public’s concern, he criticized the outcome of the committee’s visit, implying that no meaningful resolution was reached.

In his analysis, Dr. Tsafe highlighted several critical gaps in the government’s handling of the issue:

• Unresolved Financial Issues: According to the press statement, the committee returned without verifying the exact amount owed by the state to Cyprus International University. Dr. Tsafe questioned how private individuals had managed to communicate with the university on the issue, while the government allegedly struggled to obtain basic information.
