The Director of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) has refuted claims circulating about an alleged directive for federal government employees to change their salary accounts from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) to another bank. Addressing the issue, the IPPIS Director clarified that no such instruction has been given and there is no intention to make such a change.
The statement from the IPPIS Director reads: “My attention has been drawn to the publication circulating, which suggests that Federal Government employees should change their salary accounts from GTBank. I have not issued, nor do I contemplate issuing, such a directive, as there is absolutely no reason to do so. As a customer of the bank myself, I am confident that it is fulfilling its obligations and would not mislead or misguide anyone.”
The Director further emphasized that the role of determining the financial health and operational standing of a bank lies solely with financial regulators, not with individuals or groups outside of that authority.
The misleading statement in question claimed: “Dear Esteemed Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), we write to inform you of the impending need to change your salary account from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) to another commercial bank. This directive is necessitated by GTBank’s persistent poor service network, which has adversely affected users.”
The IPPIS Director reiterated that this information is false, urging federal employees and stakeholders to disregard the misinformation and to rely only on official communications for accurate directives regarding payroll and banking matters.
