The Federal Government has abolished the 18-year minimum age requirement for admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria. The policy change was announced by the new Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who hinted at broader plans to review the country’s education policy.
In his inaugural press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, Dr. Alausa emphasized that while the age requirement would no longer restrict university admissions, the federal government remains firm on its recent decision to nullify over 22,700 degree certificates obtained by Nigerians from unaccredited institutions in Togo and Benin Republic.
