Gov Uba Sani Receives Released Kaduna Hunger Protesters From FG

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has received a group of young people from Kaduna State who were recently released by an Executive Order from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The youths, previously detained on charges of treason following their involvement in August 2024 protests, were freed after a strong public outcry.

Governor Sani suggested that these youths had been influenced by “conflict entrepreneurs” aiming to stir unrest in the state.

“I was at the State House in Abuja today to welcome our young people who were unconditionally released from detention thanks to the intervention of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” Sani stated. “They were formally handed over to me by the Vice President, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, after charges of treason were withdrawn.”

Governor Sani recounted his discussions with the youths after their release, revealing that many had been manipulated into participating in disruptive activities. “I assured them that, after undergoing psychosocial counseling, the Kaduna State Government will support those who are students in returning to school, while those with skills will be provided with work tools and resources.”

The youths reportedly promised to become responsible citizens and represent Kaduna positively. Governor Sani also shared plans for the state government to engage with the youths’ parents and guardians to collaboratively develop a rehabilitation plan in their best interests.

Governor Sani extended special thanks to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift action in securing the youths’ release and to Vice President Shettima for facilitating the handover. He also expressed gratitude to Nigerians who advocated for their freedom.
