Sen. Yau Sahabi Conducts Oversight Visit To Jaji Military Command

Senator Yau Sahabi Kaura, representing Zamfara North senatorial district and an active member of the Senate Committee on Defence, recently conducted an oversight visit to the Jaji Military Command in Kaduna State. This visit was part of the committee’s mandate to oversee the progress, challenges, and effectiveness of military training facilities and operations in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Media Aide to Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura, Abdulrazak Namadi Liman, said Senator Kaura was received by senior military officers and briefed on the current activities at the Jaji Command, which houses key military training institutions, including the Armed Forces Command and Staff College. The visit included tours of strategic facilities such as training grounds, classrooms, and living quarters, where he assessed the quality of resources and infrastructure provided for training military personnel.

In his remarks, Senator Kaura commended the command for its dedication to upholding military standards and fostering operational readiness among officers and soldiers. He emphasized the importance of adequate funding and support for the military, highlighting how a well-trained and equipped force is crucial for combating security challenges, particularly in states like Zamfara, which has been affected by banditry and other security concerns.

Senator Kaura also engaged with officers to understand the challenges they face, ranging from logistical constraints to the need for more modern training equipment. He assured the command that the Senate Committee on Defence would advocate for increased budgetary allocations and legislative support to address these issues and improve the overall capacity of the Nigerian military.

The visit underscored the Senate’s commitment to ensuring that military facilities across the country remain capable of training personnel who can effectively defend the nation’s sovereignty and maintain internal peace. The leadership at the Jaji Command expressed their appreciation for the oversight visit, stating that such engagements help bridge the gap between policymakers and the realities on the ground, fostering more informed decision-making.

Senator Kaura’s visit reaffirms the government’s dedication to supporting the armed forces and enhancing national security through active legislative oversight and partnership with the military.
