Lakurawa’s Days Numbered: NSA Ribadu Promises Swift Action

The National Security Adviser to the President, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has announced that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to swiftly eliminating the terrorist group known as “Lakurawa” in the North West region. Ribadu emphasized the government’s determination to address the security threats posed by this group during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Customs Conference on Wednesday in Abuja, where he represented President Tinubu.

“We will expel those called Lakurawa from our country. We will silence our critics and put an end to their doubts,” Ribadu stated. He highlighted recent security improvements, noting that Boko Haram, which had previously ravaged parts of Nigeria, is now on the retreat and being pushed into neighboring countries where they lack the opportunity to operate in Nigeria.

In addition to security efforts, Ribadu pointed to signs of economic recovery, sharing examples of progress in the Niger Delta’s crude oil production and reforms being implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

“Crude oil production has now reached 1.8 million barrels per day, and the Central Bank has been cleaned up. We are ensuring that no unauthorized funds are misappropriated from the bank,” he added.

Ribadu reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to national development, asserting, “We promised to fix this country, and we will. President Tinubu is a man who delivers on his promises.”
